Early this year Mission Beach Tourism was delighted to receive a grant from Building Rural Communities (Blueprints for the Bush) to fund our ‘Strengthening Community Capacity project’.
This project will provide strategic planning workshops and mentoring services for community groups within the Cassowary Coast in order to strengthen community organisations and build community capacity and resilience.
The highly interactive workshops will be held in three locations, (Tully, Mission Beach and Innisfail) and incorporate explanation of simple strategic planning concepts and tools relevant for community groups. A participant workbook has been developed by the consultants from Conus Business Consultancy Services and will be used throughout the workshop. There is also provision for face to face mentoring sessions per community group of 1.5 hours over 4-6 months. The sessions will build on the workshop, use the participant workbook and be tailored to specific requirements.
A flyer has been dispersed to Not for Profit organisations within the Cassowary Coast and is attracting plenty of interested parties. The Cassowary Coast Regional Council was also successful in their bid for Blue Print from the Bush program and will be supporting our project with their own to follow soon after.
