Large-billed Gerygone

"large-billed gerygone"The Large-billed Gerygone, formerly known as a Warbler, is a common bird throughout the forested areas of Mission Beach. Sweet voiced small birds, they may be distinguished from other similar ‘little brown birds’ by their red eye with white ring surrounding it. The nest is similar to a Sunbird being domed with a side entrance and constructed of grasses, lichen with a feather lining inside to ensure the chicks are kept warm.

The birds can be secretive at times but during spring and early disclose their presence with their sweet, persistent song. They may be found throughout the mid-storey of rainforest or along the edges of lagoons and swamps.

Good luck and good birding
