TTNQ assists Mission Beach after Yasi

After Cyclone Yasi many of our local accommodation businesses could not operate without clean linen which could not be laundered without power. Those who could operate were immediately booked with many of the state emergency workers and then clean linen was in short supply.

"Pure zone" "dfo cairns" "ttnq" "mission beach" "linen donation"TTNQ in Cairns sent out an email to members regarding linen donations shortly after the cyclone, they were humbled by the swift and generous response from the industry. Their stairwell was overcome with a massive pile of pillows from Waters Edge Apartments and bundles upon bundles of bed linen and towels. Many thanks to everyone who contributed with special mentions to Pure Zone in DFO Cairns for their amazing donation of 20 brand new sheet sets and towels (pictured) plus The Cairns Colonial Club and The Shangri-La for their massive bags of generosity. Of course the speedy delivery within two days of the call out wouldn’t have been possible without the team from Raging Thunder and their BIG bus!

Mission Beach Tourism was very happy to receive a large donation of 40 pillows and an assortment of bedding and manchester from members of TTNQ which was then shared among those businesses that needed this linen to operate their business.

The delivery was made through Calypso Buses and R & R white water rafting which was met at the Tully Mobil Service Station by Leanne Watson from the Mission Beach Tourism. Thank you to the Mission Beach Taxi service for the use of their vehicle. It was such a large delivery that the Mission Beach Charter bus was used for the pickup and this proved to be a team effort of everyone helping those others businesses in need after Cyclone Yasi.
