Experience Tropical North Queensland and open a gateway to the unique and authentic cultures of the Rainforest Aboriginal People.
We are the
Janbanbarra Jirrbal Rainforest people from the Davidson Valley region situated halfway between Cairns and Townsville, south-west of Tully and Mission Beach. Our people have a deep relationship with the land and have always believed in being ‘a part of the land’ not ‘apart from it’.
For thousands of years our Ancestors have walked through the rainforest across mountainous regions, creeks and rivers via Aboriginal trading routes to hunt and gather together for ceremonial rituals and marriages with neighbouring tribal communities. These trading routes proved as an
essential resource that sustained life for our people.
Our tours and educational programs provide insight to how life was for our people before contact from the outside world. Experience and immerse yourself in our beliefs, culture, language and traditional lands.
We offer a range of
quality cultural tours and packages from hiking, weaving, bush tucker, string making, mountain trekking to student educational tours which journey you through some of the tropical north’s breath taking views of World Heritage Protected Rainforest.
Walk in the footsteps of our Ancestors, weave a bracelet, paint your face, throw a boomerang, catch a fish, come face to face with a cassowary, set up camp and eat some Aboriginal cuisine (bush tucker).
Let us inspire you by viewing the world through our eyes…
